Forsyth Country Day School Athletics

The goal of this work was to keep the community in the loop through social media while fan attendance at competitions was limited due to the pandemic. This was my first time designing graphics; I had only used Photoshop for simple edits in my photography class, but I was motivated to learn. Through hours of experimenting and watching YouTube when stuck, I learned Photoshop. I worked in this position until I graduated from Forsyth Country Day.

Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects

Timeline

July 2020 – June 2022

Here is a sampling of some of my favorite graphics I created in this role. I got to highlight some incredible accomplishments and experience creative ‘firsts’ as a designer. My most common work for this job was a series of score reports twice per week; I created graphics for scores from every competition at every level, from middle school JV to high school varsity. I also designed many infographics for different events. Through this process, I learned how to organize a lot of words into one graphic and create a visual hierarchy. This role was also my first experience with Adobe After Effects, where I created the spinning Fury logo below. This piece is still used throughout the athletic department in a variety of ways, such as for basketball highlights and before awards ceremonies.

College Commitments

Creating graphics to celebrate my peers as they committed to compete at the collegiate level was a highlight of this role. I created this design with a consistent layout, as requested by the athletic director.

State Championships

Sharing positive results from state championship competitions was a priority for the athletic department. Like the college commitment graphics, these have a uniform structure that makes comprehension easier on crowded social media feeds and on TVs in the Childress Activities Center lobby.
